Gliding in Buenos Aires

Gliding is a recreational activity and competitive air sport in which pilots fly unpowered aircraft known as gliders or sailplanes using naturally occurring currents of rising air in the atmosphere to remain airborne. Glider pilots can stay airborne for hours by flying through air that is ascending as fast or faster than the glider itself is descending, thus gaining potential energy.

Gliding is beautiful.
Wanna give it a try in Buenos Aires countryside?

Argentininan National Pride: ASADO

Asado is a term used both for a range of barbecue techniques and the social event of having or attending a barbecue. An asado usually consists of beef alongside various other meats, which are cooked on a grill, called a parrilla, or an open fire.

An asado may consist of embutidos, meats, or both. Generally in more elaborate versions the embutidos and meats areaccompanied by red wine and salads.

Embutidos: In many asados, chorizos, morcillas (black pudding), chinchulines (cow chitterlings), mollejas (sweetbread), and other organs, often accompanied by provoleta, would be served first while the cuts that require longer preparations are still on the grill. Sometimes these are served on a coal-heated brasero. Chorizos may be served with marraqueta or baguette bread as choripanes to serve as appetizers.

Meat: After appetizers, costillas or asado de tira (ribs) can be served. Next comes vacío (flank steak), matambre and possibly chicken and chivito (goatling). Dishes such as pamplona, pork, and Patagonian lamb are becoming more frequent, particularly in restaurants.

An asado also includes bread, a simple mixed salad of, for instance, lettuce, tomato, and onions, or it could be accompanied with verdurajo (grilled vegetables), a mixture made of potatoes, corn, onion, and eggplant cooked on the grill and seasoned with olive oil and salt.

Red wine, typically Malbec or Shyraz or a blend of both, is a must.

ENJOY!

TOP 10 things to do in Buenos Aires

1. Football, Soccer, Football

Any visit to Boca Juniors' Bombonera stadium will be an adventure that you'll never forget! And if you feel wild, there is no more intense encounter than Boca Juniors playing rivals River Plate.

2. Meat, intestines and glands

Think steak & fries? Think again. Chorizo and morcilla (black pudding) will usually be accompanied by crispy chinchulines (chitterling), briny riñon (liver) and molleja (sweetbread): you'll be treated to a quintessentially Argentinian feast.

3. Visit a cimitery. Yeah right!

Cementerio de la Recoleta, a remarkable necropolis in one of BA's most exclusive areas, is the final resting place of the good, the bad and the beautiful people of Argentina's past. When you find the crowd, you have found Evita's ghostly flower-strewn monument.

4. Dine in style

Brunch at this super-chilled Scandinavian Olsen restaurant - best in town! Opulent and expensive, high tea at the Alvear Palace Hotel offers a glimpse into BA's past wealth and grandeur. Blow the budget at El Bistro, within the remarkable Faena Hotel + Universe, headed by Mariano Cid de la Paza (protégé of star Spanish chef Ferrán Adriá). And much more...

5. Do you milonga?

Milongas (tango nights) blend the familiarity of a social club with the elegance of a 1930s ballroom dance. Men and women are seated on either sides and procuring a partner involves an intricate code of subtle nods and eyebrow twitches. The traditional milongas attract the older crowd, but several welcome novices. Sneak in.

6. Medialuna & Dulce sooo Dulce de leche

Drink a cup of freshly roasted coffee with a crispy medialuna (Argentinian croissant). A splendid place to indulge is the Café Tortoni, one of the city's most traditional café. Ah! and don't forget the Dulche de leche! Milky caramel syrup: the flavour of the city. Try dulce de leche in torta rogel, a crispy cake with layers of soft meringue; take a light bite of some alfajores (round biscuits); eat a filling flan.

7. Party till you drop

Palermo Palermo Palermo. Blend in with the hippest people in the city at the many bars and venues of hipster Palermo. Niceto Club is undoubtedly one of the city's trendsetting nightspots. Electronica rhythms drive the crowd absolutely wild. Feeling fancy: Tequila is your place.

8. Masters & Museums

Visit the Malba musem, where works by Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and Tarsila do Amaral share the walls with  Argentinean modern masters. And don't forget the other beautiful museums just around the corner: Bellas Artes, Design Museum...

9. Fair & Antiques

In San Telmo you can find antiques in shops tucked away around every corner, many at bargain prices. To step back in time, visit the lovely Pasaje de la Defensa, a refurbished 1880 house spilling over with bric-a-brac stores. Don't forget to buy souvenires!

10. Polo

Take a Polo lessons, watch a Polo game....not to be missed! Pro Polo is played in Buenos Aires between September and November, when the Abierto Argentino de Palermo (Argentinean Open) takes place at the magnificent 16,000-capacity Campo Argentino de Polo. Beautiful horses and people watching!
